Refuse
Plastic bags, wrapped fruit & vegetables, straws and plastic drink bottles are the common targeted items to REFUSE. They count for a huge amount of our waste per year but let’s have a look at some of the smaller items that pose an equally enormous risk.
Glitter, table scatters and plastic confetti are extremely harmful to animal and marine life.
REFUSE them or make a natural alternative. Confetti can be made by simply hole punching a leaf or some paper, both of which can then be swept up and composted. Try some flower petals or decorative shells and stones or flowers and foliage for your next festive occasion. Mother Earth will thank you.
Balloons (rubber & helium) let loose to fly high, end up coming down in our oceans and are consumed by our marine life. If they make landfall animals and birds often pick them up to feed their young. Please REFUSE them to avoid poisoning our wildlife.
